Herron-Morton Place Foundation Oktoberfest
Situation: I was on the Board of Directors for Herron-Morton Place Foundation as the marketing consultant and was elected as co-chair for our annual fundraiser Oktoberfest to bring in funds that we needed for community development of the area. I served as the lead for this fundraiser from 2011-2014.
Task: Not only was I responsible for managing all of the marketing, email, social media, website and other promotional collateral, but I also designed and sold Indianapolis posters, t-shirts and pint glasses across the city. I worked with local sponsors to raise funds for printing as well as partnered with local businesses to sell our merchandise.
Action: Since I was the sole marketer on the board, I took full responsibility for promotions, including ticket sales and marketing the event to the right audience. I created an overall marketing strategy that included an email marketing campaign, a variety of social media tactics for both growth and ticket sales, as well as managing the design and build of the website.
Result: Collectively, we brought in over 2,000 attendees and raised nearly $16,000 for the foundation annually. We also developed a reputation for being a fun and energic downtown neighborhood that promoted raising families in an urban setting.
